There are many of us that want the opportunity to start a business from home. You only need to do a search on Google or Yahoo and you will come up with thousands of web sites that talk business opportunities from home. So, where do you start?

First of all you should find out if you really want to work at home and be your own boss. I have been in the work force for more than 40 years. I have worked with people that did not like me, I worked with people who were gossipy and talked about me behind back, I worked with people who would run to the boss because they did not like the smell of my hand lotion. Oh, I made a lot of life long friends through work as well, but after awhile you don’t want to deal with office politics at all. So, opportunities to work at home have interested me for quite a while. What about you? If you were taking advantage of some of the home based businesses opportunities, would you be lonely? Do you look forward to talking to your co-workers and getting the latest gossip about the office romance?

If you think you would be lonely at home and enjoy the daily commute to be with people, than a home based business opportunity is probably not for you. I have been working to find my niche, and I really want to do this. I need to make some money of my own, as I am taking early retirement this fall. I don’t think I will run out of things to do.

So, analyze your own personality and work on your preferences. There are some ladies who ride home every day on the bus with me who chat away to each other all the way home. They obviously work together every day. If one of them did not go to work for a day, they would probably really miss out on some good one on one. They would probably go to work even if they were sick because even though the boss may think that they are dedicated, it is the office rapport that is keeping them there. So, that is the number one consideration-whether you would like staying at home or not. Be your own best friend and think about it and talk to yourself. Business opportunities from home may not be your thing at all.
