A New Home Based Business Starts Every Ten Seconds - Are You Ready?

Running your own home based business is just one of many ways to make money. It is the same as owning your own traditional business and should be treated as such. You will need to advertise your business, sell and promote any products and get others to join your team. It takes allot of hard work, not to mention time and dedication. However, the potential for success is great and can be very rewarding.

Before starting a home business you need to figure out what is real and what is a scam. You must do your homework. The Internet is great for researching anything, including getting the facts about any business opportunity.

1. Look for any information about a company before joining. Look for complaints, investigations or misleading information about the products.

2. Try and get a friend for their opinion about a company, not to join with you but just to help you make a decision.

3. Talk to people who are familiar with a company that you are interested in. What sets that company apart from all the rest?

4. Check with the Better Business Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce. How long has the company been in business? Search for any news relating to the company, good or bad.

5. What product do they offer? It is extremely important that the product is reasonably priced and a consumable. Can the product be ordered and consumed every month? Would a customer want to order and consume it every month?

6. Stay away from companies that require you to stock up on inventory. Find a company that only requires you to purchase enough products for a month at a time.

7. Avoid high start up costs. They are usually a sign that a company is just looking to make a profit and not to provide a useful, quality product. Think about it, why should you pay an outrageous amount to start a business? What purpose would it serve except to give someone else your money?

8. What is required before you actually get a check? Make sure you understand how you will get paid and what is required for you to get paid before starting.

9. Does the company provide support and training? Support is extremely important, you will need help and you will need training. Who is your sponsor? How long have they been with the company and will they provide the support you need to be successful?

10. Is there a refund policy?

11. Your compensation should be based on the purchase of a product by a customer. If you cannot figure out what the product is, then avoid that company.

12. Before signing on the dotted line talk with others in the business to see what they have to say about the company and the compensation plan.

Remember that all good things take time and patience. If you plan out your business before beginning then your chances for succeeding are greater then just by jumping into the first opportunity that you come across.

Most people join an opportunity with the mistaken notion that just by signing up and getting a free website to promote will make them wealthy overnight. There is no secret formula to building a successful home business. Yes it is possible to work smarter by automating allot of your tasks. But to build a business takes work and lots of it.

TIP: Find a mentor. If you can establish a relationship with a good mentor who cares about making you a success, then stick with them! They are few and far between.

Starting a home business may be the best decision that you will every make. The variety is much larger then it use to be, thanks to the internet.

Nothing can be more satisfying then doing your own thing at home. Having plenty of time to spend with loved ones along with a very profitable business is indeed a wonderful thing.

Good Work At Home Websites

With some many websites and blogs and trillions of Web pages on the Internet it is sometimes hard to find the sites that offer more information than ads. Below are a few sites I am familiar with and the reasons why I recommended them.

Good Forum

WAHM
There are numerous ideas here for those who want to work from home. While some may find WAHM (Work at Home Mom) to have too many ads, its forums are very useful for those just getting started in working at home. The large message board offers forums for freelance writers, Web designers, and bloggers. There are also specific forums for those involved in various direct sales businesses such as Avon, Pampered Chef, Shaklee, Mary Kay and Ameriplan. For those interested in telecommuting jobs there are sections for virtual assistants, transcriptionists, and customer service reps. Some forums easily go off-topic and few of the regulars seem to care. Many posts are of the "how do I get started" nature and the responses are generally helpful.

Good Business Information

Entrepreneur
This is the online version of the monthly magazine. There are endless articles here on how to start a business, and run a business successfully. More importantly this site offers specific business ideas. There is a huge section just on franchises. You can find your dream business by niche market or by start-up costs. There is another section on direct sales companies, some of which you can start with just a $10 investment. Whether you are interested in starting a doggy day care center, or selling your quilts on eBay, there is plenty of information on the site to get you started as an entrepreneur. The site is definitely worth a visit, especially if you are having a trouble deciding on what type of business to go into.

Good Inspiration

Beliefnet
This site has nothing to do with business per se, but it is one of my favorite sites. Beliefnet deals with all religions, all faiths and all spiritual paths. There is something here for everyone, even those who are atheist or agnostic. There are forums that allow you to respectfully ask questions about a particular religion, fun quizzes, prayer circles, memorials, newsletters, book and movie reviews and anything else you can think of regarding your soul or spirit. This site will not help you to make money without a job but it will help you to balance your life better and offer inspiration and support when you may need it most. I highly recommend this unique and wonderful site.

Work From Home With An Online Business - Top Ten Things You Should Know Before You Get Started

1. Basic computer skills are a must for starting an online business. I know you have these because your reading this. As long as you can work your web browser, download files and read, then you are equipped adequately to make money online. You can even build your own website with out having any advanced knowledge of computers. There is a great product by Ewin Chia that will almost build it for you, The best part is its a free download.
2. A small investment will be needed to get your business up and running but you won't need to spend that much if you plan ahead. Just remember, if you not willing to put anything in, you won't get anything out. This holds true for every aspect of life so why should it be any different for your online business? With a little effort you should be able to find most of what you need for your online business for very little, (if not free). There are many programs that offer tools for free or as part of a package.

3. You should have a reliable computer. It doesn't need to be state of the art, just reliable. You don't want to be at the end of something that took you hours to do and have your computer crash or freeze up. It's happened to me and let me tell you that can really hurt and cause a lot of unwanted stress. I once spent three hours doing keyword research and just when I got finished entering them and was about to save them to my ad campaign, my computer froze and I lost all the work I had done. Well that was a lesson learned for me; my first investment was a new computer. Now I'm not telling you that you should run out and get a new computer, but you need to keep it running at peak performance and not let it get bogged down. If you do, be prepared to do the same task more than once. You should always save your work as you go so if something does happen you don't lose everything. I'm not a computer whiz, you don't have to be, I'm learning from my own mistakes and making money, so why can't you?

4. Time is another critical factor when getting your online business off the ground. Many people will tell you that you can spend just a few hours a week working and the money will just roll in. This is true once you get the money coming in but that won't happen if you don't put in some time at first. Even three to five hours a day at first is all it takes to get going, but the more time you spend building your online business, the more you'll make in the long run and the less time you'll spend keeping it going once you are making money.

5. Research everything and become knowledgeable in whatever it is you decide to do with your online business. The more you know about the product or service you are providing, the more you can be trusted to give sound advice, therefore have more creditability. Don't be afraid to look at your competition for ideas and information, chances are they've already done a lot of research and can give you some new information and ideas for your work at home business.

6. Patience is key to the success of your online business. If you don't have patience then you won't get anywhere. There are going to be setbacks and failures. Don't be afraid of failures, without them you will never know what works and what doesn't, (more on that later). Don't give up if you don't make money the first day, the fact is that you probably won't. Even if you don't make money with your first online business, then switch gears a bit and try a new plan. Before you know it you'll be doing exactly what you set out to do, make money. Always remember, it takes time to get things dialed in and start seeing profit. If you fail once and give up then all the work you have done up to that point was for nothing, and you will only have wasted time and wasted money to show for your effort.

7. Overcoming fear is one of the most important things I am going to tell you. Fear is the leading cause of people never making money with an online business. If you let fear decide what you do then you won't do anything. You'll never take a risk or try anything new, so don't let fear run your life, learn instead to take small risks and not be so afraid of failing. Every time you fail you learn a valuable piece of information that is very helpful in determining what doesn't work which ultimately leads you to what does work through a process of elimination.

8. Determination is a major player as well because if you are not determined to get your goal accomplished then the fact is you probably won't. When you start developing your online business and you are presented with a problem, you will be more likely to give up and quit without that attitude of determination. Also the more determined you are to make your online business succeed, the less likely you will be to let fear take over and make you quit before you have a chance to make some real money.

9. Passion is something you should be thinking of when you come up with your plan in the beginning. If you pick something that you are passionate about to base your online business around, the rest of the stuff will just fall into place and ultimately make everything else much easier.

10. Last but not least you need to have fun with it. I mean, yeah, its work, but if you enjoy what you are doing and you are having fun in the process, you will be more successful. The idea is to "work less and make more", so remember the more fun you can have getting started, the less work you'll have to do because having fun is rarely thought of as work!

I hope these tips will help you as much as they've helped me.

Home Business With Low Start Up

Traditionally starting a business meant finding a product you could buy at a good wholesale price and resell it for a profit. Before the advent of the internet it meant finding a retail location and advertising your store.

These days the internet offers incredible ways to have a home business with low start up and you do not need to even find or deal with products yourself. Affiliate marketing offers aspiring business people the opportunity to make money online by marketing the products and services of other companies in return for a commission upon sale. You can start a business with little or no money at all by getting the proper training on how the internet works with regards to marketing and advertising.

I'm sure everyone has seen the ads for making thousands of dollars a month working online. I want to stress that there is no such thing as a "get rich quick" when it comes to making money online but with the proper information anyone can begin to build an income online relatively quickly.

Affiliate marketing offers a home business with low start up because you do not have to invest in an inventory of products or spend a ton of money on advertising your programs. I personally do not spend any money at all on advertising. This is because I invested a little money learning how to use free techniques for gaining interest in the affiliate programs I market.

There are literally thousand of companies and hundreds of thousands of products you can choose to market online. This means being able to find something that may be a passion or hobby or yours that allows you to easily provide expert information to visitors about your products and services. They key is learning how to get that information online in a way that it attracts the attention of those who may be interested in buying.

Data entry inputers or keyers create lists of information like numbers, names, addresses and the like. The data is keyed into forms that show up on the computer screen. They are also tasked to edit existing information or spot errors in existing entries, like proofreading.

Word processing involves preparing letters, professional reports, etc. Most companies provide templates or standard formats for all documents that will be processed, so that makes the work easier. For more experienced data entry processors, they can handle more complicated work like spreadsheets, statistical tables, legal transcriptions and medical transcriptions.

Starting Your Work at Home Business The Right Way

There are disadvantages that must be recognized and dealt with, by acknowledging the disadvantages of an online home business, an entrepreneur can put together a much better business plan. With a better business plan, the home business is off to a good start. The right way to start a home business is to fully understand the difficulties that will be encountered along the way and make plans to overcome these difficulties.

Working while in your most comfy wear is attractive because a person need not spend time thinking about what to wear and some savings on the laundry. A work at home business demands no formal uniform which means that any online entrepreneur can wear anything he or she wants.

Unfortunately, what people wear affect their moods and their productivity levels. The comfy pajamas induce a person to laze around and sleep. To avoid this tendency to lower work productivity, the entrepreneur must plan on having a routine before starting to work on his home business. The routine may involve some exercise, a shower, and putting on comfortable and clean clothes.

Having no boss is another great attraction for those considering a work at home online business. No more senseless ideas, no unfounded and biased criticism and the best part, there is no one who will dictate orders on what to do. But this does not mean the entrepreneur answers to no one. As an employee, he or she answers only to the boss. With the work at home business, the entrepreneur becomes the boss and answers to a lot of people such as clients, business associates, and even the family.

In other words, the entrepreneur must still ensure that the set-up and systems of the home business must be working properly and efficiently. The clients must remain satisfied. The business associates must be given more income opportunities. And the needs of the family must be met. And finally, the flexibility of having an online home business makes the entrepreneur own his or her time. The home business owner can easily rearrange the work schedule so that other activities, such as doctor appointment and sporting activities can be done.

But the work needed for the home business does not disappear. If the home business owner spend hours watching television during the day instead of putting together an advertising strategy, he or she may need to stay up late at night to make up for the lost time. To prevent this from happening too often, the business plan should include work hours.

Home Business Trends

In the last ten years more than 5.5 million jobs have been eliminated because of corporate downsizing. In the next ten years most jobs created will pay salaries near the poverty level. One former editor of "Success Magazine" is quoted as saying that over 14 million people are working at home full time and another 13 million work at home part time. These numbers are expected to climb to about 600,000 per year. This trend is not temporary.

Because of the information available on the internet, more and more people are beginning to realize that the only way to achieve wealth is to stop working for someone else for low pay. The lack of good jobs is the result of good paying factory jobs being outsourced to other countries leaving mostly low paying service related jobs. The average work at home income is around $50,000. So, the only sure way for economic security is to start you own business. With the help of the internet, running a business has become easy to learn and it's easier to contact support products and services.

There is also a new trend in consumer buying habits. Americans are bargain lovers and more cost conscious then ever before. Discount and dollar stores are everywhere. People have been going on bus trips just to visit groups of outlet stores. These types of businesses are making a fortune.

What's great about a home business is you don't need a large amount of startup capital. Most brick and mortar businesses require a large investment of thousands of dollars. Now you can start a home business that takes advantage of these new trends. You can learn more about a high profit, very easy and reliable home business that will allow you to buy kidswear at prices significantly below wholesale.

"Secret" Information On Starting A Business For Beginners

It seems that nowadays that with the internet and a world of information right at your fingertips that finding information on starting a business for beginners would be a snap, right? Well the "secret" information that you need to know about any new business you choose is this: It will require some "work". If you have just started your search for information, brace yourself for all the "marketing" that will tell you how easy, low cost and fun this is going to be. Most businesses will put "their best foot forward" when describing their program or system. For those of you still wanting information on starting a business for beginners even though you understand that it is going to take some work, this article will examine four points to look at when considering any new business.

1.)Start up costs: The first thing to look at when considering information on starting a business for beginners is the initial cost. Don't buy anything that will over extend yourself financially thinking that you will make back your investment next week with this "super easy high profit mode" gee dandy new business.

2.) Monthly costs: When evaluating information on starting a business for beginners, monthly costs are something that definitely something to be considered. While the initial start up costs may be affordable, any monthly costs can become a strain on the budget. This is something you may need to read between the lines on. Some questions to ask would be...Are there any website or hosting fees? Is there a commitment to make a monthly product purchase? Is there a membership fee for this program or system? Are there any advertising fees? These "little" things can add up quickly.

3.) Time and Skills: How much time will it take to make this profitable? A stay at home parent may have more time to work the business than someone who works a 10 shift six days a week. When it come to skills, how much technical knowledge is needed to work this program? Do you need to know how to build a website, do you need to know SEO, PPC, article marketing, list building and so on.

4.) Realistic results: While researching for information on starting a business for beginners you will see many statements of being able to make thousands of dollars by next week by simple pushing a button. While many of these statements can be true the "secret" information is that it may take weeks or months of "work" to build the structure or foundation of your business before you can even push this "button". With any solid beginners business program and a little work you should be able to start making some decent extra income as long as you take action and "work it". With that said you need to also expect at least a small learning curve in any new business while you "get your feet wet".

These four points should be a general guide when sifting through all the "marketing" out there as you evaluate information on starting a business for beginners so you can begin to zero in on the new business that will fit your budget, schedule and skill level...and remember the "secret" information on starting a business for beginners is...it takes work or action to make it successful.

3 Home Business and E-mail Auto-Responder Tips

"It's all about the list." You've heard it a million times, but what does it mean to your business? Despite the SPAM laws, e-mail marketing is still an effective tool, one that can be harnessed by the use of auto-responders that can send multiple messages to each person who provides you with their e-mail address.

Tip #1: Only send your advertisements to people who have requested information from you.

By using a double opt-in method you insure that your customer is aware that they will be receiving information of a commercial nature from you periodically. The customer needs to fill in a form with their information (Name, e-mail address, etc) to have an e-mail sent to them with a link that needs to be clicked on to "activate" their account.

Many Internet "Gurus" offer something for free that the customer is willing to trade their information for. This could be an e-book, a coupon for a free item, or something that makes it a fair exchange in the customer's mind.

Tip #2: Have your sales e-mails arrive at a set time in the future.

Some e-mail auto-responders will allow you to set up multiple messages in advance. The first message should contain information as to how the customer can receive their "free" item and should be sent immediately. It will also contain the activation code.

Don't bombard your customer with dozens of e-mails in a single day. Set up your auto-responder to wait a day or two in between mailings.

Tip #3: Stagger your sales offers with useful information that the customer can use and is related to your market.

If you offer a free e-book about a marketing tool to get sign-ups, you would want to have several articles or an E-zine that has information related to marketing along with your commercial offers. If you only try to sell things to a customer, they will quickly opt-out. By offering information along with your commercial e-mails, you are building a relationship with your customer, which is one of the hardest things to do in the fast-paced electronic world of the Internet.

Don't send unwanted e-mail. Set your e-mail messages to arrive every couple of days rather than all at once. And offer useful information related to your subject. Play fair with your customers and they will stay with you for a long time.
