Home Based Businesses and Parenting

Many people who work from home want to spend more time with the children and it is sometimes one of the important reasons for choosing to stay home. It is not very easy to run a home-based business and be an attentive parent at the same time. Personal life and business come at you from so many angles. It takes a lot of motivation and multitasking skills to be parent and an entrepreneur running a business out of your own home.. But yes, it is possible. Many home-based businesses have rules around the house, this seems to work well, but it doesn’t work in every case e.g. if you have a baby or toddler. But if your children can read or understand that a sign on the door means mom or dad is busy, you’re on the right track. If you have toddlers or babies you could try swapping with others who need a break from the daily routine and in turn they could look after your children while you work. Nevertheless, there are many people who are trying to make this work. There are many books on the Internet you can buy that explain the best ways to do this and you can learn from other people's experiences that are doing it right now. Message Boards for parents that work at home are helpful. I am one of those people who multitask with two children and a home-based business; I can say it’s not easy but extremely worth every moment.

Tips For Working At Home With Children while your on the phone 1. Have a game plan, children thrive on daily routine. 2. Goodie Boxes, for when you’re on the phone. 3. Stay organized. 4. Give your kids individual attention each day. 5. You must become good at doing two things at once, particularly at holding your child's attention while you're doing something else. 6. Get a headset! saves your neck. (make sure it has mute*) saves your clients from hearing background noises. 7. Make use of food - lay out trails of raisins, goldfish crackers, cheerio's or fruit loops. 8. Take out the tupperware! 9. Frozen fruit comes in handy. 10. Stay calm, breathe and take many breaks.
